LEO stands for Leadership, Education, and Outstanding—a vision that goes beyond the actions of our founder and team. Our diverse and dedicated team is committed to providing access to quality education for all!
Since 2021, LEO has been the most influential organization in STEM education and democratization originating from the State of Bahia. Have you ever considered how much untapped potential goes unnoticed due to a lack of opportunities and information?
In Brazil, we face an inspirational void, a challenge rooted in the lack of access to engaging experiences that should be a standard for all students. So, how can we bring these enriching opportunities to those who need them most?
The key lies in the ongoing encouragement of extracurricular activities supported by educational, technical, and high-performance institutions. A prime example is the FIRST® Programs, in which the majority of our students actively compete and collaborate year after year!

genesis

Our origins are rooted in extensive research, data, and evidence that demonstrate the effectiveness of an active, STEM-driven education—one that is diverse, accessible, culturally enriched, and integrates fun into learning. Below, you can explore a longitudinal study conducted by Brandeis University, which highlights the profound impact of FIRST® on its students and serves as a key inspiration for our approach.

how do we work?

Every year, we select students, volunteers, and seek partners who are passionate about education. No tests, no comparisons; we support all kinds of talent. The selection process is a holistic two-step approach: application and project potential registration!
Our volunteers travel during the second half of the year to various states across Brazil, mentoring and tracking the progress of our students. Weekly meetings are held via ZOOM, focusing on the three preparation stations!
Each station has a specific focus. The RED station includes young leaders with individual projects. The GRAY station includes robotics teams and other STEM competitions. The BLACK station includes multiple teachings, connecting liberal arts beyond STEM!
Platforms such as Trello, Notion, Microsoft Office, and Google are used for classes, organization, and storage. Through Adobe, Autodesk, KeyShot, and Blender systems, we shape STEM projects and artistic activities. Finally, the META ecosystem connect us!

leo is the way

LEO is the pathway for more than 6,000 young people who are transforming their communities every day!

Monthly, we debate new ways to engage youngers, volunteers, and audiences in leadership initiatives, robotics, and artistic culture. LEO has forged key partnerships to make this possible!
Through FLG, we have positively impacted approximately 10,000 girls in STEM fields and educational leadership. More than 3,000 people across Brazil follow FLG's initiatives via Instagram.
Partneship with FIRST® LEGO® Girls (Women's Robotics Org.)
Since 2021, SESI has invested $10,000 in LEO's educational initiatives, driving significant impact across 16 Brazilian states. This partnership enables us to mentor students, provide LEGO kits to garage robotics teams, and host STEM workshops in public schools.
Partneship with SESI CNI (National Confederation of Industry)
Maple Bear Canadian School has integrated educational robotics into its curriculum and actively supports LEO in mentoring students across the Northeast region. Since late 2023, we have established 35 robotics teams.

dsb: believe is powerfull

How can leaders diversify, equalize, include, and create opportunities for the first steps toward change?

The DSB (Don't Stop Believin') is a social expansion project of LEO, dedicated to fostering active leadership in underserved communities across the State of Bahia, Brazil. Through strategic partnerships, DSB has successfully impacted more than 30 cities in Bahia!
We reach underserved communities in need of support. According to Brazil's Ministry of Education (MEC) and Unified Health System (SUS), since the pandemic, marginalized communities have faced major deficits in government support and educational resources!
With a dedicated team of 52 volunteers, we provide free weekly language classes in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Additionally, we donate essential school supplies and senior care items to children and elderly individuals in vulnerable situations!
With over 4,600 lives impacted yearly, these numbers represent far more than mere statistics. They symbolize a real commitment to social leadership and future sources of inspiration for other realities. The youth affected by the DSB in 2022 are now dedicated volunteers supporting the cause!

"With DSB, I made people see beyond the color of my skin. I am an educator!"

Volunteering with DSB, I encountered stories similar to my own—Black women from underserved communities who thrived in education and external encouragement, driven by a desire to reach greater heights. I am here to showcase that we exist.
